[ Specials board at Waterloo & City in Culver City, CA ]

The last couple weeks were spent passing through various airports. Impromptu trips are fine with me since i managed to stay a couple weeks straight in New York this month. At first, i was liking the fact that i was in one place for over 10 days but then i was getting cabin fever and ultimately was homesick for LA.  Even though it was basically an extended weekend complete with heavy rain on Sunday and there was definitely business getting done, i was able to touch home base and had a great dinner with one of my best girl friends at Waterloo & City.  i have no problem driving out of my way for great food. We shared a bottle of rosé wine, chicken liver and foie gras mousse, gnocchi with lamb cheek ragu (ok, we need to stop there– trust me, the food is delicious!) She surprised me with a basket of flowers to mark my “homecoming.” Beyond thoughtful.

Hello, Yellow

1/2/3/4/5

Citrus yellow is my spring must have to inspire your wardrobe and add a bright statement color! Neon yellow might be a little intimidating but if you love classic basics like a white tank and blue jeans then adding a bright yellow handbag, flip flops or a structured blazer can easily update your outfit for the season.  My recent purchase of the blazer in ZARA’s TRF collection in medium was literally because of the look book photo. I’ve never been into prominent zippers particularly in silver, but i actually like how the zippers add an edge to a truly structured and fitted jacket. It’s a good infusion of “downtown” to an “uptown” fit so you get a balance and can build an outfit in either direction. I’m looking forward to wearing this jacket out in New York and even LA too.

If you want to go bolder…then jeans or a dress in yellow will definitely get noticed. Here are my 5 picks from a range of yellows– more mellow for a subdued effect or neon highlighter to turn the brightness up to the max! Loving yellow because it is a haute and happy color.

01/ Havaianas Women’s Top Flip Flops in Light Yellow $11.99
02/ Rag & Bone The Legging in Neon Yellow $187
03/ Oasis Fit N Flare Dress Exclusive to ASOS in Ochre $80.57
04/ Structured Blazer by ZARA TRF $89.90
05/ Givenchy Nightingale Tote, Medium in Bright Yellow $2,265

butter LONDON Nail Salon and Lacquers

i was pleasantly surprised to find a butter LONDON nail salon at the Alaska Airline terminal at Seattle airport during a layover. A long travel day was made longer but i wanted to come home to LA that bad! So yes, one stop to get me home earlier is fine.

i love butter LONDON’s packaging. Their lacquer bottles are short and squared off making them really unique. i didn’t get a manicure since i just did a UV gel manicure the day before, but the nail salon was pretty busy! It’s a great idea for an airport terminal! i would have loved passing the time getting a mani pedi.

Closer to home, butter LONDON also has a relationship with one of my favorite hotels The Peninsula Beverly Hills Spa. i saw their tweets! It’s a beautiful hotel with easy street parking and their rooftop is one of the best places to grab a cocktail!

butter LONDON also sells their lacquers in clever packs like Butter Bride that includes Pink Ribbon, Hen Party & Cream Tea and Girls Night Out…Every clique needs the following members: The sensible one, the flirt, the socialite, & the troublemaker. Which are you? This pack contains Diamond Geezer, Queen Vic, HRH & Primrose Hill Picnic. Clever right?!

Chevron Print Style for Home

Statement entry! Love the bold chevron with the gold mirror accent.

Right now, I’m obsessed with chevron print. It’s bold and the zig zags are not only mesmerizing but chic. i love it in pastels, bold colors like navy and black and of course there’s my favorite gold.

While perusing through Apartment Therapy, i stopped at the gorgeous photo above from a West Village apartment. Small spaces in New York are the norm so it’s crucial to see how other New Yorkers are maximizing their living situation.

Jasmine/Bitter Orange scented, 100% recycled paper printed with gold soy ink.

If you don’t want the chevron print to be front and center on your walls, you can discreetly add it in your drawers as a chic shelf liner. I have to have these gold metallic Hammocks & High Tea drawer liners! The liners also come in pink and grey and get this– they are scented! Might even try it on the walls for wallpaper– why not? I’m not scared of chevron.

Spot the chevron throw in this beautiful living room! Z Gallerie is one of my favorite stores to shop for home accessories. They have a huge selection of chevron this season from candles, dinnerware and even a headboard. However you work the chevron print into your home, you will appreciate the vibrant pop of print!

Always loved Mila Kunis. She not only seems like she has the personality of someone i could become best friends with, she’s a stunning beauty. She can dress up and be ethereal pretty, dress down and feel comfortable in her own skin or truly go all out sexy.

Dior gets it. Mila Kunis appears in their Spring Summer 2012 campaign via OHLALA Mag.

Mila Kunis arrived at the Dior Fall 2012 show at Paris Fashion Week looking very chic and polished. Absolutely love this ensemble.

Terry Richardson shot Mila Kunis for Harper’s Bazzar April 2012 issue. Carousel is genuis! Mila does have a playful and colorful personality.

What i love is when you can truly pull off an image that is the definition of sex appeal. Think Rihanna on any given day.  Mila does this well…eyebrows and eyeliner is killer! This is my favorite look and image. BlackBook mag is so good.

Punta Cana

It’s a gloomy day in New York City. These are the days that make me feel homesick for sunny Los Angeles! Since i need to get inspired for the weekend, i am sharing a beautiful memory of my trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.  Ever since i moved to the east coast, the DR has been my extended weekend getaway replacing what Cabo San Lucas was to me on the west coast. Jetblue makes the trip easy from JFK!

Punta Cana is peaceful.

Absolutely loved staying at The Reserve.

The hotel suite was like my Manhattan apartment but with a jacuzzi on the balcony!

Etro bath amenities?! Yes please.

Massive pools all over the resort!

Took in a sushi class. Read the activities schedule and participate!

Presentation is everything! Sushi anyone?

Punta Cana was my vacation from a vacation that i took in mid-November 2011. It was a time for me to reflect and read. i finished up The Happiness Project and also started the Steve Jobs book. The Reserve was a beautiful resort with great service from all the staff, great restaurant and dining options especially for an all inclusive and the hotel suites were beyond comfortable.  Met some great hotel guests and we constantly would say hello and run into each other and compare how we spent the days and which restaurants to make reservations at! My next trip should be a week, not a long weekend!

Varying Degrees of Blue

Good bye winter. Hello spring!

The color that reminds me of calm, cool and vacation is none other than blue. Whether or not there is an opportunity to take a spring break, there’s a way to make life more serene through fashion. Injecting the color blue into your wardrobe is easy with a few bright pieces.  Just like the ocean, the range of blues is vast…light blue, bright blue, deep blue….

Here are my favorite blue pieces and I’m proud to say I’m the owner of the YSL handbag in Bluette— yes, that shade of Bluette blue and not the navy! 😉

[ Gold. Even for shoes. Especially for shoes. ]

Back in New York this week. It’s great to be back from LA and better yet, i brought back some gold Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes with me! Stopped in to the mall at Century City and stepped out of my gold Chanel heels into a pair of these comfy shoes. It’s definitely replacing my gold Toms! Keeping with the gold theme, Saks Beverly Hills came through on the gold Chanel nail polish. Can’t wait to see how it looks on a manicure.  To keep things decadent, my favorite dish this week was toro tartare and caviar from a new sushi spot in Greenwich Village called Neta. It was bliss. Thank goodness it was friends and family opening night!
